PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Created by artists for artists – created in a time where artists have had to struggle with their identities as artists, surrendering to themselves to the unknown timing of one’s environment.
Water is an elemental force that imposes a limitation of surrendering the artists (dancer) to its force and the ability to discern to jump, fall, move, or be carried. Navigating these depths brings forth the artistry of the long phrase of movement underwater.
Inspired and preconceived by Metamorphoses’ Psyches Fourth Task, INTU explores the mythic and archetypal themes of surrender, the underworld, divine help and the artist’s journey as opposed to the hero’s journey.
Integral to the film’s design is the element of sound. The film includes an original sonic composition inspired by the musical science of whale song, the evocative melodies of the deep. In the creative process of creating the sound, it was consciously decided to create the transmission as an emotional response to the edited movement. The composition is intentionally infused with the CrystalTones Sound Healing Bowls attuned to the frequencies of the sacral, heart and throat chakras positioning this film for placement as a meditation tool to find courage in vulnerability and artistic expression.
